Feeling foggy, flat, or just in need of a refresh? Try these five magical energy-boosting rituals and shift your vibe fast.

Sometimes you need a double shot of energy and enthusiasm, but in a spiritual rather than caffeinated way. You know what I mean?
It could be the warmer weather making you feel lackadaisical, or maybe your inner child is craving a summer break. (Or at least an extended weekend!)
Here are a few little mood-boosting, mind-resetting magical strategies for times like these. Try one or try them all.

Peppermint Tea Potion

This simple and reliable spell is so quick and easy, you can do it even when you’re feeling foggy and groggy. (Which is exactly when you will want to do it, because its specific purpose is to turn such feelings around.)
It’s a riff on a spell in the very first witchy book I ever owned from waaaaaaay back in the day.
Here’s how you do it.
Put on the kettle. Brew yourself a cup of peppermint tea. Add a splash of lemon or a milk beverage (such as almond milk) as desired.
Hold the cup in both. hands. Smell the peppermint. Feel enlivened.
Inwardly or aloud, say, “Mint, your help I call! Fresh and peaceful, your spirit comes.”
Envision or sense diamond white light coming down from the sky and golden white light coming up from the earth. Feel them moving through your body and into the cup. See or feel the tea sparkling with energy.
Mindfully, imbibe. Bring the magic into your body and energy field. Feel yourself sparkle.

Nap Meditation

Have you heard of “Yoga Nidra”?
It isn’t exactly a nap, but it also isn’t not a nap. When it hits in the right way, it’s deeply relaxing and refreshing. You will “awaken” from it feeling renewed.
All you need is a bed or a yoga mat, a blanket and pillows as desired for comfort, and an eye pillow or something else to block out the light. Oh, and a guided Yoga Nidra meditation. (I use the free app Insight Timer, which has a ton.)
Ideally, select a meditation that is at least 30 minutes long for the full Yoga Nidra experience. Then, make yourself comfortable and settle in.
Notice how you feel afterwards, once you stand up and start moving around. Most likely, you’ll find you feel more focused and awake. It’s sort of like you snuck in a few more hours of sleep, right?

Single Song Solo Dance Party

If you only have five minutes or less, you’re suffering from a chronic lack of enthusiasm, or if you just need to inject a little fun into your day, try this. (It’s inspired by an exercise in the book E-Cubed by Pam Grout.)
I do this one all the time. Whenever my husband Ted is around to witness it, he always says, “Oh, here she goes!”
Here’s what you do:
Choose one excellent dance song, according to your own tastes. My personal favorites for this purpose are Gratitude by Earth, Wind, and Fire and Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard by Paul Simon. But you do you!
Play it. You can play it in earbuds or over a speaker. And dance.
But don’t just dance! Dance like you have just won a major prize after a lifetime of hard work, like an Academy Award or a Pulitzer, and now you are at the after party and you have done a few shots. Be silly and play. Whatever you do, don’t overthink it or worry about how silly you look. And anyway, the sillier, the better!

Go Thrift Shopping

While even thrift store prices have gone up as of late, most trips to Goodwill are still not going to put you back too far.
And when you’re looking to boost your joy, there’s nothing like a little wardrobe refresh.
To be mindful of money (something I highly recommend and discuss in my book Little Guide to Money Magic), you might want to limit your purchases to a certain dollar amount. Or go in with a clear idea of the types of pieces you’d like to find, like “I need some black shorts and a few more cotton sundresses.”
Then, call on your fashion angel and go shopping. (What the heck is a fashion angel? Short answer: someone on the other side who helps you find great clothes. Learn more about your fashion angel and how to make contact in my books Little Guide to Fashion Magic and Magical Fashionista.)

Declutter and organize One Whole Room

On this blog, you will often hear me say, like, “Begin by clearing clutter from one limited area, like your fridge, your closet, or your medicine cabinet.”
…But! When you take an hour or three to clear clutter from an entire room, and then organize it, you will really get energy moving. You’ll also shift your perspective. And, you’ll give yourself a shot of happy vitality that will last for days or even weeks.
The kitchen is my favorite for this purpose, but the bathroom is also fun. And so is every other room. (Have I mentioned I love clutter clearing? You should try it!)
Well, what do you think? Which magical mood or energy booster are you going to start with? Or do you have other ideas you’d like to share? Please chime in below! (And if you do try one, please come back and let me know how it went.)
