Nearly seven in 10 Americans want the Iran war to be done “as quickly as possible,” according to a new poll.

In The Economist/YouGov poll, 68 percent of respondents said they believe the U.S. “should make a deal to end the war in Iran as quickly as possible,” while 11 percent disagreed. Twenty-one percent were unsure about making a deal.

The war against Iran has stretched on for three months, with the conflict stressing the global economy and straining U.S. alliances. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway for the oil industry, amid the fighting has also caused oil and gas prices to increase.

According to AAA, the average price of a regular gallon of gas in the U.S. was at about $4.24 on Thursday afternoon, up from $3.14 last year.

On Wednesday, House lawmakers passed legislation created to force President Trump to end the war against Iran. The vote was 215-208, as four Republicans — Reps. Thomas Massie (Ky.), Brian Fitzpatrick (Pa.), Tom Barrett (Mich.) and Warren Davidson (Ohio) — joined all the Democrats in backing the measure.

The passage is mostly symbolic, due to lingering disputes about whether the measure has the force of law.

In The Economist/YouGov poll, 28 percent backed the conflict against Iran, while 60 percent were against it.

The Economist/YouGov poll took place between May 29 and June 1, featuring 1,604 respondents and plus or minus 3.5 percentage points as its margin of error.
